Wonton Soup. I have had really bad versions and really good versions. I make it with flavors that I really like so for all my Asian #letslunch pals - please don't cringe, these are just flavors that get me going.
I start with store-bought wonton wrappers. Yes, I admit it, I am way too lazy to make my own wrappers. I do however start with pork loin that I grind myself. Next I add some toasted sesame oil, minced ginger, an egg white and here's where it diverges from the traditional - I added sliced leeks and 5 spice powder. I was out of scallions so I used leeks and I add 5 spice powder just because I like it.
Then all you need to do is drop your fixins into the simmering chicken broth and eat!!
Love the gold bar shapes!
ReplyDeleteI applaud you for making your own version of Asian food, that's the best way to make any food, to your own flavor and taste buds, yay. Happy Asian Heritage month and Happy Mother's Day, Karen.
